Monetising Your Audience

Monetisation Through Content

I have had this conversation a number of times recently, how do you monetise an existing audience if you are a company or a creator.

  • Website copy / complete x form / leave a paid review

  • Webpages with product info and sell products / sponsorship / advertial inclusion

  • Newsletter sign ups

    • Newsletters sponsorship or insertion

  • Top ten lists - a number of these are paid for inclusion

  • Subscription to the products

  • Sponsorship of category pages / user stories

  • Gated Ebooks / whitepapers / webinars

  • Affiliate model (vouchers, codes etc)

  • Game downloads

    • Pay per play

    • Pay to sponsor / pay to partner

  • Lottery pay-to-play

  • Quizzes (pay on completion)

  • Panels (join and be paid)

  • (KOL) Key opinion leaders and charging for KOL opinions

  • Referral models - share and receive payment / free subscription / credit

  • Complete form & surveys

  • Video plays

    • With ads - paid on watch time

    • Pay per view

  • Referrals - Pay per referral, refer a friend/colleague

  • Pay per signup

  • Podcasts - with sponsorship - Example - https://coda.io/d/Acquired-Sponsor-Kit_d09fteR3ux_

  • Co-reg - brand pays for co reg sign ups

  • Pay per lead generated

  • Selling SKUs and products based on content. Think recipes and ingredients

Keep in mind

  • Monetisation always seems like a lot of work but most of this is not with a sprint or two of Product work

  • Time to value is always expected, when you add time to reward (time to value & then time to reward) you win long-term monetisation moments

  • Just remember most are still selling reach, if you can be more precise with great targeting the more effective partner you will become
